I mentioned in my previous post that I had the full cover for the upcoming Cast in Conflict. I didn’t forget the cover — I did forget that I work at the store on Saturday (it’s curb-side only, but the books don’t get to the curb on their own yet). But it’s not too late. Here’s the full cover :). (I tend to post the full cover because often the front cover is out in the world before I get copies I can share, so everyone will have seen that already.) I like it. I have a cover for Cast in Wisdom. I’m (obviously) not going to spoil anything, but will say the setting in which Kaylin finds herself is relevant :). Since a picture is worth a thousand words, I’m going to leave this in the hands of artist Shane Rebenschied and art director, Kathleen Oudit, and I will go back to struggling with words that have not yet reached a stage where they are even a glimmer in the eyes of either.
January was the month in which I vowed I would write the Severn short story that has been owed since, oh, March of last year. However, at 35k words and chapter seven, I realized that this was not actually even a long novella – it’s a novel as it currently stands. So, that is now being discussed with publisher, because: novel. (I’m sorry, Melissa T_T) I have started the second short story I owe from the same period. At the moment, however, I have confidence that this time it will be short, and regardless, length is less of an issue because it doesn’t run afoul of option clauses. I think.
