In the words of Granny Weatherwax, “I Aten’t Dead.” This is the cover for Oracle, the sixth book in The House War. I asked for it so I could post it on the web-site. And then forgot >.<. I used to be so much better at organization, I swear. My entire life at the moment is coffee, Cast in Honor, coffee, page proofs, tea, falling-over. I have tweeted a couple of times in the past week and consider this a major social media win for me. I apologize profusely to anyone who has sent email or tumblr or facebook comments: I am on such a tight deadline (my own fault, of course) that I have no brain cells left for anything else. (Yes, this causes hilarity in my household. Sadly.)

So… thanks to the modern miracle of Junk folders, I did not actually see the go ahead to post my cover until today. Since I have been sitting on this cover for a month or two (it feels like TWO YEARS), I was surprised to hear that the cover had gone live on Amazon.com. I emailed my editor to ask if I could post the pre-pub version that I had, since it was live on Amazon.com, and she said…We sent you the cover link, because I was CCed on it. But, politely. And…she was right. So I have been waiting an extra four unnecessary days T.T. But, in the theory that late is better than never: Cast in Flame. This is the cover that I went to the photo shoot for. … Continue reading

Touch is coming out this month, and I haven’t posted the sample chapter yet. In fact, I don’t think I’ve posted the cover. I was kind of caught up in writing with nose-to-grindstone (which should produce sharp noses, but, well, mine still only barely holds my glasses up). So: I have a cover image to show you. The artist is Cliff Nielsen, who was responsible for the cover of Silence. And I also have the prologue and the first chapter. (I read the prologue at Worldcon; it was considered depressing. Which, yes, it sort of is. It’s Nathan. Chapter one, however, is less so. So have both.) Touch preview. In a couple of months after Touch is published, I’ll have a spoiler heavy post about process and the writing of this book, … Continue reading

I have revised and submitted Cast in Flame. It’s going two places: the first, to my editor at HLQ. (She already has it). The second, to Patrick Rothfuss’ Worldbuilders fundraiser. Yes, I am sending a copy of the submission manuscript for a book that won’t see print until the end of July, 2014, to Worldbuilder’s. It’s not there yet. I had to have it printed, and then had to change the printing so it was two sides of a page so I could have it spiral bound. I will post again when the auction goes live. I have written a bunch of Oracle words — but the book isn’t done yet. And I have been working on The Hidden City, City of Night, and House Name for the non-North American ebook market. I promised elsewhere … Continue reading

Guess what appeared in my email today? The cover(s) for Cast in Sorrow. I know many of you have already seen it on Amazon, B&N, etc., but on the off chance some of you haven’t, I’m posting it here. The full cover is actually the small file, but has the back text. The larger file is front cover only. The small file is the cover flat — which includes the spine and the back. I really like it. The art is by Shane Rebenschied, who also posted the image without text earlier on his tumblr.
