It’s pub day for Cast in Oblivion. Print books are in stores in North America – and probably in specialty SF/F stores in the UK and Australia. The audiobooks appear to be available everywhere. The ebooks appear to be available everywhere but Australia/NZ. Anything that can be done from here is being done — I’m really, really sorry because I honestly love my Australian fans T_T. To celebrate this, I have commissioned a map. If you look at the menu bar, there’s a new tab, MAPS, and the drop down has the map for the City of Elantra, done by Mati Demers. (Where by celebrate, I mean that I realized I actually needed a bit of a visual guide after all this time, because I am terrible at mapping, and at reading maps. I am one of … Continue reading

This is technically the November edition, but I have been neck-deep in page proofs for Firstborn. Which were due today. November was actually a really productive writing month (until page proofs). I found the beginning of The Black Gauntlet, title entirely tentative, and have one prologue and three chapters. I have more of the Severn book, but some changes from novella structure were necessary. Not as many as I was afraid there would be – but to be fair, I was afraid I would have to ditch all 30k words, so. I have copy-edits for War incoming today, which will eat some writing time — but War is a June title. So: February 2019 and June 2019 for Firstborn and War. I made a comment over at Tor.com, on a review of the new … Continue reading

I appear to have missed the month of June =/. This month, I turned in Cast in Oblivion. I have not turned in Firstborn yet, but will hopefully finish it before the end of this month; it was more complicated to split the book than I’d originally intended, and required a couple of running starts, but I am now on the (new) last chapter. I am very glad that I don’t have to worry about the length of the book, since it was the shorter half of the split. Jody Lee, the cover artist, finished the emergency Unplanned Novel cover before I finished the revision >.>. I will share when I can. I am writing the first Severn novel next, Elantra-wise. The next Cast novel should be about Bellusdeo and … Continue reading

January was the month in which I vowed I would write the Severn short story that has been owed since, oh, March of last year. However, at 35k words and chapter seven, I realized that this was not actually even a long novella – it’s a novel as it currently stands. So, that is now being discussed with publisher, because: novel. (I’m sorry, Melissa T_T) I have started the second short story I owe from the same period. At the moment, however, I have confidence that this time it will be short, and regardless, length is less of an issue because it doesn’t run afoul of option clauses. I think. (For the record, it’s a short story that takes place in the universe of The Augustine Painters and The Colours of … Continue reading

To those who celebrate, Happy Holidays! I have been writing, but at the moment, have very little to show for it; my short Severn story is now 28k words and not finished. I hope to finish it before the New Year, but in the frenetic, panicked busy work of holiday preparations, I am not sure how feasible this is. Chapter one of Cast in Deception is here: Cast in Deception 01. Re: audiobook versions: there appears to be a physical box of 13 CDs, but the downloadable version doesn’t seem to be available on iTunes yet, or rather, the link to it doesn’t seem to be available there. I’ll update those links when we’re closer to pub date. So the audiobook links look slightly different: … Continue reading
