It’s a little on the later side because I am packing for Worldcon, but Cast In Sorrow should be available in the wild, deliveries and orders willing. The ebook should be available at all ebook sellers as of today; at least one person has said their library has it. The audio book, however, is not yet available. My publisher said, in response to my panicked email, that Audible.com will be releasing the book, but a bit later (in September). I’m sorry about the delay >.< (Edited to add: from Laura in comments below: The audiobook is now available.) I am actually writing this on my iPad at the bookstore, because of course the books arrived here just after I’d left for the day yesterday, and I won’t … Continue reading

I am home. I have more or less recovered from the flight between Melbourne and Toronto (Michelle is not the world’s best traveler, for all kinds of reasons, not the least of which is: when I get off the plane, the first thing I want to do is crawl into my own bed and sleep for a day.) I loved Melbourne, though. I got a lot of work done, there. I have been working on Cast in Flame. My simple “Kaylin needs to find a new apartment plot” has kind of been hit hard by two unforeseen complications. Unforeseen because I had originally thought of doing this story before Kaylin went to the West March. After the West March has complications that arise naturally from Cast in Sorrow. (I am … Continue reading
The writer’s brain is melting. This will not come as a surprise to anyone who lives in and around Ontario; it’s been record temperature hot. I spent longer than I had anticipated in revisions on Touch, the second book in the Queen of the Dead trilogy. It’s gone back to my publisher, and the publication date is January, 2014. However, it’s a move in the schedule; it’s the time at which my Michelle West novels have been published for the last few years. And War is not finished. It’s not really close to being finished. I’m sorry =/. I lost more months that I can bear to count on Touch, ironic given that it’s the shortest book I will publish all year. In terms of raw words, … Continue reading
I have been fighting a rearguard action against a sinus infection for the past two weeks, and I am at that stage where any movement of my head — at all — is Very Unpleasant. This has killed Yoga for the past week, and I am therefore feeling sluggish. But! Cast in Peril’s copy-edits went back to Luna last week. I just got email informing me that the page proofs are on the way, and should arrive tomorrow. Those are the last things I have to review before the book is out of my hands — at least until author’s copies arrive. The title of the next Cast novel is: Cast in Sorrow. I may have mentioned, some time back, that I had written 50k works of Touch, the follow up to Silence … Continue reading
Wendy Good, in the comments to the previous post, asked: How many more Cast books are you currently contracted for with Luna? Will you seek contracts for further Cast books or is that too far reaching of a question? I dare to ask because I don’t want them to end. I know all good things must eventually, but would love some reassurance regarding the next few years, if at all possible. : ) The answer was: The one I’m working on now (which is Cast in Peril). The answer is now: The one I’m working on now (which is, oddly enough, still Cast in Peril) and three more Cast novels, none of which have titles. Some of the questions about various elements of possible future books — the … Continue reading
