Shards of Glass, preview & goodreads giveaway

Posted in Elantra, chapters, Mira.

I have been focused on the very very very many mistakes I have made while trying to be a publisher, and my attempt to juggle has been less than perfectly successful.

However, Mira has not, in fact, made a mess of publication and publication scheduling, and Shards of Glass will be available everywhere one would usually expect a book to be available by, oh, its publication date!

Shards of Glass has a publication date of the 29th of November, so I’m a touch behind in getting the first chapter out for people who like tormenting themselves by reading sample chapters when chapter two is a month away >.>

The preview chapter is here.

My publisher is also running a goodreads giveaway.

The giveaway runs from today (1st of November) to the 13th of November.

  1. Joyce says:

Love the front cover. Did we ever get a preview of the full cover with blurbs and such? So, so looking forward to this book. I really miss Elantra.

  2. Sue Ivey says:

I like it very much! But there are only 19 pages and it seems there is a little more in the first chapter?

  3. michelle says:

@Sue: I just checked, and I apparently included the first 2 pages of chapter 2 T_T. I had some problems getting the “print as .pdf” to work, which is unusual =/.

  4. Zia says:

I cannot wait for this to come out! Thank you for posting the preview chapter :)

  5. Sue Ivey says:

Well, darn. I’ll just have to wait, with bated breath.;-)

  6. Wendy Sahyoun says:

    I cannot wait.

  7. Lauren W Isaacs says:

The first chapter was really good. I am on pins and needles waiting for the whole book. Thank you Michelle for being one of the best authors I have ever read.

  8. Marjorie Young says:

I love the world of Elantra. I am looking forward to reading this book. First chapter is intriguing. 2nd was more of a hook to catch the interest. Waiting impatiently…✨️❤️✨️

  9. BRIANA LORD says:

Wow! I am hooked. Can’t wait for the rest. Thank you for this.

  10. Marie Gerules says:

I didn’t find out until too late that you were at the con in Kansas City! And, I missed you. Dang! Looking forward to the new book (to put it mildly).

  11. Anna says:

I’m waiting with baited breath! This is going to be such a great story, I cant resist squeeling :)

  12. Linda says:

Now you’ve done it! I should never have started reading….it’s going to be a long month of waiting!

  13. Melanie A Allen says:

I placed an order for shards of glass; and came home this morning to a delivery of hunter’s redoubt sitting on my doorstep
    Exciting times; take care

  14. Kenneth P says:

I wonder do anyone else feel parallel personality between Raven and Severn and between Robin and Kaelyn when they were younger

  15. Mary Allen says:

I went over to Barnes and Noble and they had the book out so bought and read before Thanksgiving. I liked the book. It seemed more like a West novel and I missed Kaylin and Severn but I enjoyed Terrano and Teela being in the book. I received Hunter’s Redoubt hard cover in the mail and was surprised to find it longer than any of the House Books. I am afraid to start it as I have a lot to do in preparation for the holidays and know if I start it I won’t put it down until I finish the book. I know I am going to love it because I have been waiting for more about Stephen of Maubreche. Thank you so much for writing books I love to read and reread and look forward to their publication all year long.

  16. Heather Warren says:

Is this the same world as the “Cast In…” series?

  17. michelle says:

@Heather: Yes, SHARDS is set in the same universe as the CAST novels; it takes place in the Academia, which is now being governed by the former Arkon.

  18. Amanda v.W. says:

OMG, another fabulous read! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  19. michelle says:

@Mary Allen: I was surprised to find it longer than any of the HOUSE books as well T_T. It’s the second longest book I’ve published; the longest I’ve written was WAR — but that was long enough it had to be split into two volumes (FIRSTBORN, WAR), so the published books weren’t as long as SUN SWORD (which is the longest).

Otoh, it is easily the longest first book in a series arc I’ve ever written.
