I only realized I hadn’t actually shown the cover of the new novel, Cast in Atonement, when I tried to find the post in which I’d done it T_T. It’s really been that kind of month here at Michelle central.
On the bright side: I’ve been getting writing done.
But, first things first: Cast cover:
Cover designer: the inimitable Kathleen Oudit. Artist: the wonder Shane Rebenschied.
This is the full cover as it appears on the book. You’ll note – or maybe you won’t – the new Mira icon at the bottom of the spine. I like it, but I would: it’s books :D.
Because I’m so late, I also have a preview chapter of the book. It’s possible that Mira will post a larger sample online, but, well. Chapter is on the Cast in Atonement book page.

In the meanwhile, I have just received my revision letter for Heir of Light (the title for the sequel to Shards of Glass). The title is new, but we can’t publish a book with “Magic School 02” on the cover, and after much angst, this was the best choice.
Revisions are not my favorite thing ever, but I’m sure I’ve whined about that before.
I am on the end stretch of The Wild Road, the next novel in the West series. My being on the end stretch just means it gets finished, revised somewhat, sent to editor(s). So — it’s not done yet, and even when I type the end, it’s still not done.
And I have just started the post Magic School novel: Cast in Blood. For the last several books, I’ve used CAST NUMBER as the provisional title, because titles change. This time, Cast in Blood is my provisional title. We’ll see if it survives.
And now I will go back to revisions >.<
