This was orig­i­nally written for the Assassin Fantastic anthology edited by Alexander Potter & Martin H. Green­berg, and published by DAW books. It takes place in an inter­lude of quiet during Sea of Sorrows, and reveals some elements of his early days with the Brotherhood.

Birth­night by Michelle Sagara copy­right 1991.

This was orig­i­nally written for a theme anthology titled Christmas Bestiary. It was actu­ally the first short story I sold, and only the third I attempted to write, because the actual third attempted became the Books of the Sundered.
