State of the author & Worldcon schedule

July was a month of revi­sions, book review column and cover copy. But: revi­sions for Cast in Wisdom are done, and I am once again rereading all of the words for the unfin­ished books that I didn’t touch while revising (revi­sion being an entirely sepa­rate part of my brain than creating). There was a lot of cursing #pastme.

I am going to the Worldcon in Dublin this year, which is just over two weeks away. So I’m desper­ately trying to get as many words as possible before then.

Below is my current schedule — I think loca­tions are subject to change, but not times.

    Wow! I hope you have a wonderful time! My sis-in-law did a study-abroad in Dublin years ago and loved it! I have yet to visit Ireland, although I have been to the UK.

    Can’t wait for Cast In Wisdom. Thanks, some­thing great to look forward to. Have fun in Dublin, really, really wish I could go. Its a long way from Florida.

    @Tchula: I have writer friends who live in Dublin, and some who live in the UK who will be going to Dublin, so I am hopeful :).

    @Debbie: it’s a pretty long way from Toronto, as well — but I almost never travel. I’m starting to have the minor panic anxiety about packing — and as we’re not leaving until the 12th or 13th, this is ridicu­lous, but. Well. Writer-brain.

    I’m looking forward to Cast in Wisdom. Will we be seeing some cover art soon? For what­ever reason it makes the book “real” for me.
    I hope your travels go well. I like the idea of trav­eling but in reality travel always leaves me exhausted.

    Yea and Hooray! Looking forward to Cast In Wisdom also have a GREAT time in Ireland. Watch out for the pubs in Dublin, they can be magical and suck you in. I never lost decades in them, but time can be…er…elastic in them.

    So sad I will be missing Worldcon this year even though I have an attending member­ship. I haven’t finished cleaning out my old house to sell it yet, so still carrying two mort­gages (and their taxes — ouch!) and cannot afford the airfare and hotels until I sell that. I do have a pile of your books that need to be signed (every­thing since Spokane, I think). Oh, well, it is what it is. The pile will just be that much larger when we do finally meet up again.

    I hope you have a good time in Dublin. I shall be attending at Dublin as well for my first conven­tion. Not sure if this correct place to ask but do you know the proce­dure for signing up to your kaffeeklatsch? Slightly worried I will miss out as my flight does not arrive until just after 9am on the Thursday morning and so poten­tially miss signing up.

    @Kerry: and I will be happy to sign them when next we cross paths :)

    @David: The way it’s usually done is that sign up sheets are offered. Some conven­tions will offer them on the day of the Kaffeeklatsch, so I’m less certain about the timing — but Thursday is the first day of the conven­tion, so arriving in the morning should hope­fully be fine.
